The electrical signal is transmitted through a hermetic glass-to-metal sealed feedthrough to the dry and safety encapsulated initiator charge. In the event of a collision, the crash sensors transmit an electrical signal to the igniter, which then ignites the initiator charge.
The initiator charge ensures that the gas generator immediately releases large quantities of gas into the airbag.
